The most involved form of addiction therapy for any substance abuse is a thirty to ninety-day inpatient stay at a rehabilitation facility. Unlike day and night programs, which involve daytime treatments and supervised evenings at home, or outpatient programs, which only consist of therapy during morning or afternoon visits, inpatient treatment requires an addict to live at the treatment facility for this entire period. During this time, inpatient alcoholics receive fifty or more hours of intensive therapy per week. This is an intense form of treatment, and those seeking help must understand what awaits them if they choose it.
When an addict decides to seek outside help for their addictions, there are two types of treatment/rehabilitation centers available, inpatient or outpatient. There is somewhat of a substantial difference between the way the two types of treatment work. Both are beneficial but, understanding the difference will help both the addict and their loved ones decide which would be the most helpful to them.
Inpatient and outpatient both offer counseling and therapy to the addict as well as their loved ones and both will educate them on the effects of the substance of choice. At Arizona Addiction Recovery Center (AARC), our inpatient treatment program requires the addict to reside at the treatment facility for the duration of their treatment. The amount of time spent in the treatment facility will vary according to several things such as the substance used, the extent of addiction and the addict's ability/willingness to get clean. The average time to expect is approximately three to six weeks for intensive treatment, and they may stay inpatient for more time or be referred to outpatient.
Advantages of Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility
The benefits of inpatient rehabilitation include the continuous care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. At AARC, our inpatient rehabilitation facility in Arizona has medical personnel to help with the withdraw and other medical symptoms as well as psychological staff available to help with the emotional needs. While receiving treatment as an inpatient, the addict is assured to receive proper recommended nutritional and life skill therapies.
The team at our inpatient rehabilitation facility in Arizona are also extremely beneficial in preparing the addict for going back out on their own where the temptations are. They will learn great tools to help prevent relapse, receive encouragement, advice and be able to be around the staff and other addicts to relate their feelings too.
While in an inpatient treatment center there will be opportunities for family and friends to visit, and you will have the chance to make phones calls as well. The treatment centers also offer therapy sessions that will include your loved ones when applicable. The opportunity for your family to go through counseling is beneficial for both you and them. The therapies during inpatient will be available at several different times as opposed to as an outpatient when you have made arrangements to be at the session. Group therapy is also available for inpatient as well as outpatient and gives you the opportunity to know that there are others who think like you when it comes to addiction.
The advantages of inpatient rehabilitation are numerous and very beneficial to addicts that are at risk of relapsing when going to an outpatient treatment center. The inpatient is a very structured environment which will prepare you for handling life situations before going to outpatient treatment. I’m 32 years old and had been to at least 5 or 6 drug rehabs in the past 10 years or so. After having been here for almost 90 days, I can sincerely say that I’ve never experienced such an awesome way to get sober and learn how to live and enjoy life without the use of drugs. Thank you everyone!Jennifer Grieti
My son Jordan was here for 6 weeks and the changes I’ve noticed in him are astounding. Even beyond the drug abuse, he has for the first time in his life really taken on the responsibilities a man in his 20’s should. He’s now back in college and our family is as wonderful as ever…thank you to Chris and Alex, you guys are wonderful!!!Dianne King (Jordan's mom)
A coaching client of mine was really struggling with heroin addiction and unfortunately became hooked beyond belief. I investigated a number of treatment facilities throughout Arizona and determined this was likely the best option given his age and addiction. He went through detox and residential treatment here for 3 months and today I must that I have been truly impressed every step of the way. I definitely recommend AARC…Trevis Carlisle (Life Coach)
