Understanding the difference between the classic and the modern takes on drug rehabilitation is essential for realizing how much things have changed with time. We no longer focus on the symptoms of the disease, but on the underlying causes instead. At the Arizona Addiction Recovery Center, we understand that the damaging effects of narcotics go beyond the patient’s mere biology.
The best Phoenix rehab centers will not only trim down the physical effects but the psychological and social ones as well. As shown by the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), close to 29 million Americans drove a car while under the influence of narcotics at least once in their lifetime, and drug-related car accidents are among the more benign consequences of drug abuse, however awkward it might sound.
The real dangers come from the addict’s propensity towards violence and from his erratic behavior, fueled by a substance that has one reason for being – take over the brain, change its chemistry and slowly bring about the ruination of the once flourishing, healthy human. It is a slowly developing nightmare that can only be resolved by addressing the rehabilitation process in a new, revolutionary way.
Here we have several methods that have been adopted by the majority of the top rehab centers:
- Countering the withdrawal symptoms, detoxifying, establishing control – The first phase is essential because it aims at dealing with the meanest manifestations of the disease. These will be initially controlled using a mix of medication and psychotherapies, with detoxification playing a significant role in reducing the impact of the withdrawal.
- Addressing emotional trauma – Studies have shown that, in many cases, drug or alcohol addicts will end up in Phoenix rehab centers with plenty of underlying emotional damages, which sometimes are directly responsible for supporting the tendency towards self-destructive behaviors. In this situation, it is imperative to put psychological and emotional therapies in place, specifically designed to deal with those problems.
- Rectifying the behavioral display – This is another must-have procedure since all drug addicts will encounter massive behavioral shifts, which are so drastic that they will end up becoming new persons entirely – volatile, aggressive, unpredictable, irritable, paranoiac and depressive, possibly even manifesting suicidal tendencies.
- Lowering the risk of relapse and building coping mechanisms – The relapse is the greatest danger for all patients because, if it occurs, it will nullify all the progress they have recorded to that point – everything will have to be started all over again. The patient will learn how to deal with the drug craving mechanisms, which will be present for quite some time after completing the rehab program and how to avoid falling into the same trap again.
What we have learned in our Phoenix rehab centers, as a direct consequence of so many years of experience, is that drug addiction is a disease that never fully heals. This is why, at the Arizona Addiction Recovery Center, we use all of our tools and efforts to ensure the patient will remain clean for the rest of his life. Living with drug addiction is the same as living with a lethal disease – it will eventually get you. Take action now before it’s too late!Phoenix Rehab Centers

I’m 32 years old and had been to at least 5 or 6 drug rehabs in the past 10 years or so. After having been here for almost 90 days, I can sincerely say that I’ve never experienced such an awesome way to get sober and learn how to live and enjoy life without the use of drugs. Thank you everyone!Jennifer Grieti
My son Jordan was here for 6 weeks and the changes I’ve noticed in him are astounding. Even beyond the drug abuse, he has for the first time in his life really taken on the responsibilities a man in his 20’s should. He’s now back in college and our family is as wonderful as ever…thank you to Chris and Alex, you guys are wonderful!!!Dianne King (Jordan's mom)
A coaching client of mine was really struggling with heroin addiction and unfortunately became hooked beyond belief. I investigated a number of treatment facilities throughout Arizona and determined this was likely the best option given his age and addiction. He went through detox and residential treatment here for 3 months and today I must that I have been truly impressed every step of the way. I definitely recommend AARC…Trevis Carlisle (Life Coach)
