Long-Term Recovery Success and Sober Living Housing

Long-Term Success in Sobriety Post Rehab by Way of Sober Living Transitional Recovery HousingAsk any addiction treatment professional their opinion on sober living, aftercare, transitional recovery housing and so forth, and you are almost certain to receive positive feedback as to its overall importance within the long-term recovery process. In fact, we would challenge you to find any reputable drug rehab center or addiction/mental health treatment professional that doesn’t endorse the importance of transitional recovery housing post treatment!

From the perspective of young adults having gone through a residential treatment center, as opposed to those in their 40’s and 50’s, for instance, the role of sober living/recovery housing during the process of successfully building strong foundations in early sobriety, and beyond, is all the more important. Why is this the case? Because younger adults in their late teens, 20’s and 30’s tend to have stronger sticking points to their older and seemingly more exciting lifestyles, of which typically will entail addict-like behaviors. Whereas older men and women are more likely to have experienced greater levels of pain resulting from years of drug and/or alcohol abuse, those in their younger years essentially have less emotional pain in their past, thus creating less of a deterrent for future relapse.

When you consider an addiction treatment approach that focuses predominantly on helping younger adults, there comes a unique added element, an element which is often missed within the traditional inpatient drug rehab model. In fact it isn’t one specific thing; it is in essence, a component that aims to create a whole new level of added value to the client’s life in general. This includes such areas as:

  • Helping to build a genuine passion and joy for living sober
  • Creating realistic and integrative life plans that feed this passion, such as; education, career, family & healthy relationship dynamics, building healthy foundations for enjoyment, creating life clarity and empowering the individual through a number of added life skills
  • Integrating relapse prevention in a way that embraces contrary action rather than having it be the all-too-common bitter tasting act
  • Inspiring strong, vibrant and fun social structures, of which will continue to flourish even more so during post treatment, while in the sober living or transitional recovery housing phase.

The numbers and success rates speak for themselves, and what they say is that among those who commit to 6 months or more of structured recovery housing post rehab, the likelihood for achieving multiple years of sobriety dramatically increases! For those nearing the end of their stay here at Arizona Addiction Recovery Center, we always recommend sitting down with our aftercare coordinators and setting up a realistic transition plan.

Whether the client intends to remain here in the Phoenix/Scottsdale, AZ area or is traveling elsewhere across the country, we have a strong sober living and aftercare network in place that includes all 50 states. We even work with locations in Canada and Europe! From structured or semi-structured sober living housing to outpatient treatment, therapy, psychiatry & medication management and even recovery coaches and life coaches, our network is vast and our objective is simple…“we want you back as an alumnus during next year’s summer bbq or holiday party, rather than as repeat client.” And we’ll do whatever it takes to ensure the best outcome for each and every client & family.
